Student Center & Collegiate High School

St. Petersburg College

The St. Petersburg College Student Services Building was designed to serve as an environmentally friendly two-story “living room”.  The building allows small groups of students to gather to socialize, collaborate, and study, while simultaneously allowing the flexibility to invite large discussion groups as well as accommodate convention/exhibition space for special events. The first floor houses Student Activities, security, the campus bookstore and a meeting room; the second floor accommodates the St. Petersburg Collegiate High School, an art gallery and additional flexible space.

The Student Services Building achieved the United States Green Building Council’s LEED Gold rating, one of the first Pinellas County to earn the prestigious designation. LEED is a nationally accepted certifier for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. The building was designed to decrease pollution and negative impacts on the environment; decrease impact on local aquifers; decrease energy consumption; and increase the quality of indoor air and the indoor working environment.

The building, like the departments it houses, shares the common goal of enhancing the social/learning experience of students, faculty and staff within an environmentally friendly and sustainable environment.
