DESCRIPTION
A short timeline, a tight site, a reduced budget, and multiple organizations involved; these are some issues that moved St. Petersburg College to develop this project using the Design/Build method. The project was scheduled to be completed one year from its conception; it was to develop on a site that measured just a little over 50 feet by 200 feet in a busy downtown. Multiple parties came together to help create this vision.
The first floor will have a box office, food service area, and a bookstore/retail shop. It will also feature a grand staircase to service the theatre on the second floor with great views of the park. American Stage Theatre Company’s new 200-seat theatre will be housed on the second floor including its pre-function area and backstage facilities. Support Spaces for the Theatre Company will also be housed on the third floor including a Costume Shop and Set Construction. There is also spaces remaining on the third, fourth and fifth floor in order to adjust for future growth. The College and its partners have joined together to create this landmark building for downtown that will truly be a place where academics and art come together.
