PROJECT NAME
New Heights Elementary School
CLIENT
Pinellas County School Board
SIZE
140,357 sf
BUDGET
$21,234,578
DESCRIPTION
This prototypical school is the first LEED certified elementary school for the Pinellas County School Board. The values of green and earth tones selected for the construction elements not only express sensible, close-to-nature, sustainable materials, but also contribute to a calm environment that inspires learning.
The design places emphasis on creating sensible scale of the building as they relate to clusters of Florida native, low maintenance landscaping in a courtyard with variegated plant texture and color aways visible from anywhere in the school. Harmonious but more vivid colors are used in the interior spaces where students need to be alert. This combination of subtle colors and natural materials and the inclusion of the latest technology enhances the living and learning experience.
